He served as a Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary from 2002 to 2005. As a career diplomat, he has been Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia, to the United States, Jamaica, and Bangladesh and Bhutan. He has also served as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India from 1992 to 1997.
